“Mom, what’s a wellness wheel?” my daughter asked one day, her brow furrowed as she colored in a giant circle at school.
At first, I chuckled—kids pick up the funniest things. But as we started talking, it hit me: wellness isn’t just a grown-up thing.
Our little ones also need activities that boost their physical, intellectual, emotional, and spiritual well-being.
After that conversation, I decided to create a fun wellness plan for the whole family. I figured, why not make wellness something we can enjoy together?
Think of it as our version of a Wellness Week Challenge—a simple way to teach the kids about balancing different areas of their well-being without making it feel like a chore.

Wellness Activity Ideas For Kids
Physical Wellness: Keep Them Moving
Kids love to move! We like to mix up our activities with fun ideas that get the whole family moving. Some days, it’s a dance party in the living room (hello, impromptu conga lines!).
Other days, we go outside for a nature walk, tracking our steps as part of our Wellness Wheel Assessment.
For rainy days, a mini trampoline is our go-to.
I swear, it keeps the energy levels up and tantrums down! Physical play is a fantastic way for them to burn off extra energy and stay active.
Spiritual Wellness: Finding Peace in the Chaos
Incorporating spiritual wellness into their day doesn’t have to be complicated. We practice gratitude at dinner, taking turns to share something we’re thankful for. The kids love it—especially since it’s followed by dessert!
Some days we also spend a few minutes doing guided meditation for kids before bed. It’s a soothing way to unwind, and honestly, it helps me relax too.
Emotional Wellness: Teaching Big Feelings
Emotional regulation can be a challenge—especially when my toddler throws down his superhero cape in frustration! To build emotional awareness, we use a feelings chart and make it part of our bedtime check-in.
I also found that fidget toys are magical for calming those little emotional storms. We’re teaching our kids to express themselves and recognize when they need a moment to breathe.
Putting it All Together: The Well-Being Wheel
We introduced the kids to the Wheel of Wellness, breaking it into bite-sized pieces they can understand.
I explained how each area—physical, intellectual, emotional, and spiritual—makes us feel good in different ways. It’s like a puzzle, and every piece matters!
